Working across our University-wide operational services this role will focus on partnering with senior academic and professional service colleagues to develop and embed rigorous digitally enabled finance operations that will deliver the vision of the University, ensuring that financial strength and all its activities are properly aligned and managed effectively to implement the strategic plan, Marjon 2030.

Specifically, the Deputy Director will play a pivotal role in improving financial strength through:

Managing the Finance Function in contributing to the delivery of Marjon 2030 strategy.

Having responsibility for the operational financial reporting within the University, monthly financial forecasting, annual budget consolidation and completion of accurate statutory and regulatory financial returns and tax submissions in line with accounting standards and other HE regulatory requirements.

The Management Accounts, Financial Accounting and Procurement Function, delivering timely monthly financial reporting, along with the completion of cashflow reconciliations and monthly forecasts to year end, VAT and tax returns, other submissions. You will seek to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the operation, motivating and developing the teams, providing information responsively and enhancing the service across the University.

The Deputy Director must exemplify the University's values and behaviours in all areas of their work. University Directors and Deputy Directors are responsible for providing overall leadership and direction, ensuring the department/unit aligns with Marjon 2030. Directors and Deputy Directors are also integral members of the University Leadership Group managing multiple professional services areas. Directors and Deputy Directors will collaborate with academic leadership, external stakeholders, internal teams and students/students' union to deliver high-quality services, and initiatives that enhance the University's reputation and contribute to the success of our students and staff.

Where you'll work:



In this role, you'll be based in the Finance team, on our green campus in the north of Plymouth.

Our current hybrid working policy means you can work from home or on campus, but you will need to maintain strong campus links and be available on-site when needed.
