What you will do
We are seeking a highly capable Deputy Director of Technology to help lead the delivery of cutting-edge unmanned and autonomous vessel projects worldwide. This senior role blends technical depth with leadership, commercial, and client-facing responsibility.Lead and develop our Systems Engineering team, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
Support and deputise for the Director of Technology, providing leadership across projects and strategy.
Oversee complex USV/AUV and marine robotics programmes, from design reviews to risk management.
Act as a senior technical liaison for key clients, representing OIS at meetings, trials, and industry forums.
Collaborate with commercial teams on bids and proposals, ensuring profitable project delivery.
Drive continuous improvement in systems, processes, and technology strategy.
Who you areA hands-on engineering leader with a strong track record in advanced marine robotics or related technologies.
You balance technical expertise with people leadership, commercial awareness, and client engagement skills. You thrive in fast-paced, complex programmes and play a pivotal role in shaping team culture and delivery.
Proven leadership in complex engineering programmes.
Strong background in systems engineering (USV, AUV, subsea, or advanced maritime tech).
Experience managing and developing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Ability to balance technical, client, commercial, and operational priorities.
Excellent communicator, confident engaging with clients and senior stakeholders.
Skilled in risk management and decision-making in technology programmes.
DesirableChartered Engineer status or equivalent.
Experience across both defence and commercial marine sectors.
Track record of innovation and integrating emerging technologies.
