Overview:

Performance Marketing World was launched five years ago by Haymarket Media and is a sister title to Campaign and PRWeek. As recent winners of 'Team of the Year' at Haymarket, you'll be joining the brand at an exciting time as it enters its next growth phase, with several new editorial projects and major live events planned for 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a news editor or features editor to take the next step toward becoming a brand editor in an autonomous and responsible role within a supportive team.

As deputy editor, your main role will be to manage, commission, edit, and write high-quality daily content for the UK's leading trade title on performance marketing. You will also work closely with the editor on longer-term audience engagement strategies, proprietary data projects, and original investigative pieces.

You will need exemplary editorial and communication skills, the ability to think creatively about digital content, enthusiasm for hosting large-scale live events, videos, webinars, and podcasts, and the confidence to demonstrate leadership qualities while also interpreting and responding to the needs of the target audience.


Responsibilities:

Strategy:Work to meet and surpass the goals and performance targets set for each product. Target editorial content to fit the interests and needs of PMW's global audience of performance marketing professionals. Collaborate with the design, marketing, and events teams to ensure the best possible presentation of content across all formats. Build strong working relationships with the commercial team and maintain awareness of the brand's commercial priorities. Contribute to audience growth and engagement, regularly reviewing the efficiency of content production and delivery systems. Ensure that diversity and inclusivity are evident in all aspects of your work, with content clearly reflecting the diverse nature of the audience.


Day-to-day:Write, commission, edit, and manage high-quality, engaging, and effective digital content across online, social, and email channels, to deadline. Ensure the accuracy, style, and legality of all content; sub-edit colleagues' and contributors' work where needed. Represent the brand appropriately on social media, working toward relevant goals and targets. Collaborate with the editor on longer-term editorial growth projects. Generate fresh ideas for content and, where possible, identify commercial opportunities. Build and maintain relationships with key information providers to support new content development. Provide cover for other editorial team members during absences.


Staff:Take responsibility for daily management in the absence of the editor. Help maintain a highly motivated and effective content team. Support the editor in managing the writing team and freelancers, where applicable.

Skills / Experience / Knowledge / Minimum Criteria:

Previous experience working for a media brand. A nose for spotting an insightful news story as well as a clear understanding of the kind of entertaining, shareable content to help grow traffic and drive engagement An understanding of the global marketing ecosystem - from brands and agencies to technology vendors, media owners, trade bodies, regulators, and intermediaries - would be an advantage. Previous experience working in the marketing profession or reporting on the marketing industry would also be an advantage. Excellent writing, commissioning, editing, and proofreading skills. Experience - or enthusiasm for - hosting live events, webinars, and podcasts (training and support can be provided if needed). Experience using a content management system (CMS) Additional skills in word processing, design, data visualization, transcription, and video editing tools, would be an advantage. Ability to build and maintain relationships across the wider advertising industry. Strong oral communication skills. Adaptability and a willingness to take on a variety of tasks. An enquiring mind and the ability to immerse yourself in technical subjects. Confidence in interpreting data sets and communicating insights to readers in an engaging way. Ability to develop a strong rapport with the PMW team and the wider Haymarket team Willingness to collaborate with colleagues in commercial, marketing, and communications.
