Here at Serco, we are looking for a Deputy Engineering Manager (Electrical) to join the team at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. This role will be responsible for managing and providing a safe and efficient maintenance service, delivering a quality service to our customers at the hospital. The provision of a safe and pleasing environment for staff, patients, visitors, and the wider community to ensure the buildings fabric, plant and engineering infrastructure services and equipment are maintained to a high standard, delivering continued efficiency, safety, reliability, and to safeguard the future long-term serviceability of the Estate.
The role primarily covers the management and maintenance of the electrical infrastructure, systems, plant and equipment across the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital and the various interfacing of these services across all other building services, however it is expected that wider understanding and knowledge of the mechanical and building services is developed. Typically, the electrical responsibility of the role technically includes High Voltage & Low Voltage Systems, Fire Safety Systems, Nurse Call Systems, Building Management Systems & Controls, Generators, CHP, Air Handling Units, Emergency Lighting, Isolated and Uninterruptable Power Supplies, Refrigeration, Portable Appliances etc.
Working with and alongside the Engineering Manager (Electrical) you will support with all aspects of the operational day to day delivery and management of our Estates Hard FM engineering service delivery obligations, providing higher levels of service visibility and a higher customer orientated approach of the electrical and wider services delivered across the site by the Estates Teams.
The core duties within the role are aligned to the Engineering Officer responsibilities, with ownership being taken on specific technical service delivery elements as well as undertaking Authorised Person Duties with the additional responsibility for understanding all aspects of the electrical and wider services delivered across site and supporting the Engineering Manager (Electrical) in driving, developing and improving our services and staff, becoming point of contact for this service element when the Engineering Manager (Electrical) is unavailable and taking ownership of the Team.
