ABOUT IMAGINE THEATRE
Imagine Theatre, part of the Trafalgar Entertainment group of companies, are producers of pantomime and family theatre in the UK.
For the 2025/26 Christmas season, we are producing a large portfolio of pantomimes. It will also see us open our 260th professional pantomime production..
Up to 30 full and part time staff work for us. Our head offices are in Coventry, where we also accommodate a 68,000 sq ft warehouse packed with scenery, costumes, props and special effects. During the main Christmas show season, our staffing levels will exceed 500 people, working over multiple satellite sites. During the 2025 Christmas season, a curtain will rise more than 1,000 times on one of our productions, playing to an audience of over 600,000 people.
THE ROLE
We have a vacancy within our wardrobe team for a highly skilled professional, who will support and oversee our wardrobe provision for our productions. Reporting directly into the Head of Wardrobe, this individual will be highly experienced in the fields of pattern making, pattern cutting, making and alterations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Overseeing the delivery of projects including delivery of our pantomime season
To cut and make costumes for Imagine productions, and other projects in which the Company have an interest.
Making pattern, pattern cutting and draping.
Procuring and sourcing of materials, fabric and accessories
Altering, adapting or repairing stock costumes, employing construction techniques and identifying any construction issues
Maintaining costumes (including washing/ironing), shoes, accessories, tools and working areas
Working with production Wardrobe Teams
Measuring and fitting actors
Supporting costume returns
Supporting efficient management and administration of the department, including management of freelancers
Maintaining our stock of costumes and shoes for shows and hires
Administrative tasks and computer skills to support the Wardrobe department

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS REQUIRED (ESSENTIAL)
A diverse range of textile handling, pattern drafting, cutting and making
A minimum of 2 years experience of theatre costuming ideally within a producing theatre
Wardrobe department scheduling
A good working knowledge of relevant costume making tools and machinery
Theatre costume cutting and making skills
Experience in alteration to existing garments.
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively
Able to deputise for the Head of Department in their absence
Able to plan workload effectively with the ability to work to strict deadlines
Able to work as part of a team
Excellent interpersonal skills
Initiative to work alone with minimum supervision
Positive and flexible approach to problem solving with attention to detail
Computer literate
Flexible and friendly manner at all times

NOTE
This role is a fixed term position between 15 to 18 months.
33 days of holiday year inclusive of bank holidays. Holiday is strictly limited in October and not permitted November to January due to panto season.
This role is 40 hours per week with additional hours required particulary during panto season.
There will be a requirement to travel around the country attending photoshoots, marketing events and potentially to help out during rehearsals. This may include (rarely) overnight stays.
