Are you a forward thinking, passionate and experienced veterinary nurse who is looking for an opportunity to develop their leadership skills within a large and dynamic team?
We are looking for an experienced RVN to join the team on a fixed 12 months contract; as Deputy Head Nurse. We are looking for someone who is happy to lead by example, has great communication and organisational skills and is looking to work with a positive and passionate team. As a nurse with at least 3-4 years RVN experience and a medical bias, you will assist with the daily co-ordination of the nursing team and contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the day.
Previous experience of working in a senior role or leading and supporting a large team is desirable. This role is primarily clinical and 'on the shop floor'.
Duties include:
Working alongside and co-ordinating with the medical and surgical teams to ensure efficient running of the day
Point of contact for urgent queries from the non-clinical team and referrals
Conducting team meetings
Assisting the Head Nurse with return to work meetings and absence recording
Teaching and supporting the nursing team's clinical development
Support with clinical induction processes
Ensuring day to day processes are followed
Updating the clinical team on new protocols and procedure changes
We are a busy 24- hour hospital with multiple advanced facilities including in house CT, MRI, hydrotherapy and physiotherapy. We offer emergency cover for several local clinics so we do see a high case load of emergency and critical care cases. We also conduct a wide range of soft tissue & orthopaedic surgeries. We have cat, dog and exotic wards as well as outpatients and isolation units, we also have dedicated dental area with dental x-ray. We are very passionate about pain control and anaesthesia including regional anaesthesia and have recently acquired our zero-pain practice accreditation.
Education and support for our team is important to us. We regularly offer EMS placements and are a veterinary nursing training practice. It's important to us that all our colleagues work together to provide a supportive learning environment for all members of our team. Clinical coaching is a requirement of the role and full training will be provided.
Our current rota is 40 hours a week across 4 days with a set day off each week and 1:4 weekends. You will be supported in your role by our Head Veterinary Nurse and Head of Clinical Services.
