We are looking for a Deputy Headteacher to take the lead on safeguarding, wellbeing and attendance, and line manage a group of non-core subjects. The role includes leading and managing our outstanding residential care team. being the named DSL for the school and carries a broad focus upon the 'Behaviour and Attitudes' aspects of the Education Inspection Framework and Social Care Inspection Framework.

The role is fully supported by a range of internal highly specialist teams including qualified, competent care staff and education assistants, subject specialist Teachers of the Deaf, Audiologist, highly specialist speech and language therapists, wellbeing and behaviour leads, communication support workers to name but a few.





Teaching and learning follows the national curriculum, mapped from EYFS to Post 16. We operate a broad and balanced curriculum at each key stage. A full range of Key Stage 4 options are available to all children up to and including GCSEs. In Post 16 our education provision is complemented by local partner providers


Applicants must be innovative practitioners, able to think creatively and strategically, and forge a range of collaborative partnerships to secure the best life chances for deaf children and young people. Deaf culture, language and identity are at the heart of our school but if you're not an expert don't be daunted. A commitment to learn British Sign Language to Level 3 is a non-negotiable but fully supported by an experienced, expert, in-house team. We adopt an innovative bilingual approach which values the both English and British Sign Language equally

Ideally, applicants will be proven senior leaders who can demonstrate impact within their current roles. They will be keen to step up to the role of Deputy Headteacher and be prepared to adapt their existing strengths and experiences as well as develop and harness new ones. Crucially, applicants must be innovative and not afraid of well thought out change, whilst modelling high expectations and commitment to doing their 'day job'. Most importantly of all though is a deep desire to make a positive impact on the lives and opportunities of our fantastic deaf children and young people.

Teachers are sponsored to complete the mandatory Teacher of the Deaf qualification and there are further opportunities to complete a Masters in Deaf Education where appropriate. BSL lessons take place weekly at a variety of levels.
