About the Role
We are seeking a committed and confident Deputy Manager to support the leadership of a high-quality children's residential home. You will help ensure exceptional standards of care, safety, and development for young people aged 11-17 with complex needs, including social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Working alongside the Registered Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in staff development, safeguarding, and care planning, helping young people achieve their goals - whether in short-term crisis support or longer-term therapeutic placements.
Responsibilities
Support the Home Manager in meeting all regulatory requirements and ensuring the home's Statement of Purpose is consistently fulfilled
Maintain high standards of care and ensure care plans meet each child's full range of needs--educational, emotional, social, therapeutic and cultural
Supervise, mentor and support junior staff, ensuring robust inductions, regular supervisions and clear development goals
Take responsibility for daily operations in the Manager's absence, including staff deployment, risk management, and resource allocation
Collaborate with families, schools, local authorities and health professionals to safeguard and promote each child's wellbeing
Participate in the on-call rota and provide shift cover where necessary, including sleep-ins, weekends and Bank Holidays
Promote a culture of reflection, professional growth and inclusive practice within the team
Requirements
NVQ Level 4 in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People) or above
Working towards, or completion of, Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent)
Minimum of 3 years' experience in children's residential care, including 1 year in a senior or supervisory role
Proven ability to supervise, motivate and lead a care team
Full UK or EU manual driving licence
