About the Role



On completion of a successful probation period (6 months) a payment of 500 will be paid to the applicant and a further 500 will be paid after 18 months service.

We are rated 'Good' by Ofsted in all areas.

Deputy Manager Children's Residential Care - Alton, Staffordshire. ST10



We provide a salary of 36,244.60 per year and this includes a sleep-in allowance.

173 hours per month (including sleep ins, weekends, bank holidays and office days)

You will be required to work up to 8 sleep in shifts per month to support the home. If you are not needed to work any sleep-in shift you will still get paid for it but you will work office days.

All additional training and team meeting will be required as extra if you are not on shift on these days.

We offer a 224 hours per year holiday with additional benefit for working bank holidays. At Vitality Care we ensure that we provide you with a sleep-in payment for each of your holiday days taken so that you are not just being paid for the hours taken off work.

We offer time and a half for every bank holiday you work. The Christmas and New year bank holiday period will be paid at a higher rate due to the time of year of expected working hours.

Vitality care work with Gateway Psychology where we offer a therapeutic home for the young people who come to reside with us. However, we also ensure that staff have the support from a psychologist for one-to-one support in the role. We follow the PACE model - Playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy to meet the young people's needs..

We also provide an Art Psychotherapist to work with the young people on a weekly basis.

Duties and Responsibilities Specific to the Post of Deputy Manager.



REQUIREMENTS:



Deputise in the absence of the manager and cover for appropriate staff where necessary. Must hold Diploma Level 3 for Children's and Young People's Workforce and have a minimum of 2 years' experience in a Senior position. To have an awareness of the Children's Home Regulations and Quality Standards (2015). To produce good quality written reports on the progress of young people and to work to a high standard. Have a professional commitment to the personal development and training of staff. Have the ability to work in a stressful and busy environment. Be able to manage a rota and be able to pick shift's up at short notice to cover any absence. Complete on call duties via phone and be able to attend the home when on call if required. To role model fellow support workers and take a lead responsibility in ensuring the provision of high-quality therapeutic care to children and young people at all times. To ensure appropriate standards of practice are maintained and are consistent with principles, standards and philosophy stated in Vitality Care's policies and procedures and be compliant with current legislation and regulations as it relates to child care practices. To develop positive relationships with young people. To adapt and follow the homes physical intervention training method when managing behaviour, in order to best avoid confrontation and the unnecessary use of force. To attend all current, relevant training and ensure accountability for personal development. To complete key working duties where appropriate and facilitate good relationships with other agencies and young people's family and carers. To take a positive interest in the young people's educational progress, to monitor their homework and link with school in a parental capacity, in accordance with the care plan. To help and foster the young person's interest in the world they live in. To maintain all records and administration. To identify the religious, ethnic, gender and cultural needs of a young person and to contribute to meeting them by exploring facilities in the area and assisting the young person in making contact. To contribute to the implementation, monitoring and reporting on individual care plans, risk assessments, risk management plans, education and health care plans for young people who are looked after. To contribute towards and prepare reports for meetings and presentations. Which you will chair on the absence of the registered manager. To arrange and co-ordinate any necessary meetings, plans or conferences, as required in relation to the needs of the looked after children. To build professional relationships and information share with external agencies where required (e.g. social services, Police, education provision, YOT, G.P. etc.) To ensure young people attend meetings and appointments as required. To attend all staff meetings and contribute towards staff team building. To supervise staff and keep appropriate records while reporting any concerns to the registered manager. To contribute towards the professional growth of and maintain the reputation of Vitality Care Ltd. To undertake cooking, cleaning, housekeeping and other 'home making' tasks involving the young people according to their ages and abilities. To undertake any other reasonable duties required, as directed by the management team. To ensure the home operates in line with the specified Statement of Purpose. Undertake supervisions of identified members of staff, work within the Company policy and procedures in relation to supervision and personal development plans. Where required to be involved in the staff recruitment process. To liaise with Manager/Social workers to effectively plan admissions and discharges. To ensure that appropriate staff have the skills, knowledge and ability to manage Residential Support Workers effectively. Promote and actively encourage the professional development of staff. Ensure that all staff are aware of their roles and responsibilities in relation to appropriate current regulation relating to the running of the Children's Homes. Work 'on call' on a rota / shift pattern. Be able to assist the home in the event of an emergency, Work bank holidays, weekends, shift patterns, sleep over and be able to work over the Christmas and new year period. Be able to work at short notice.
