This is a unique opportunity to help transform student financial support at the University of Bristol. As Deputy Manager of the Money Advice Team, you will play a key leadership role in delivering proactive, high-quality financial advice and education to our students. You'll manage a specialist team of advisers and coaches, establish a new Student Money Coaching Service, and shape sector-leading interventions that enhance financial resilience and autonomy. You'll also influence institutional policy, improve the impact of over 40m in student funding, and help position Bristol at the forefront of student financial support in UK higher education.
What will you be doing?

You will:
Leading and developing a team of Student Money Advisers and Coaches, embedding a high-performance culture.
Designing and delivering a new Student Money Coaching Service and broader financial education programmes.
Improving the student-facing delivery of scholarships, bursaries, and hardship funds.
Acting as the senior escalation point for complex financial cases, funding disputes and crises.
Advising on student finance policy and strategy, both internally and in engagement with sector bodies such as SLC and OfS.
Ensuring the service meets quality assurance standards and demonstrates best practice.
Using student feedback and engagement data to inform service improvements and demonstrate impact.
Representing the University in regional and national forums to influence wider sector practice.
Developing partnerships across academic and professional teams to align financial support with student success.
You should apply if

You have significant experience leading advisory services, driving service improvement, and managing teams in a complex environment.
You bring in-depth knowledge of student funding, eligibility, and financial wellbeing strategy.
You have a track record of innovation--designing and delivering new services, tools, or educational initiatives.
You are confident managing high-risk cases and working across stakeholder groups, including external funding bodies.
You use data to inform your decisions and can evidence the impact of your work.
You understand sector quality frameworks like AQS and are comfortable operating at both service and strategic levels.
