An exciting opportunity has arisen to become the Deputy Manager of an outstanding home for children with disabilities. We are looking for an inspirational, experienced leader who has the right skills, values, and knowledge to develop and lead a staff team to work with the most vulnerable children, ensuring their physical, emotional, cultural and health care needs are met.


Caudwell House is a home for children with physical disabilities, associated learning difficulties and sensory and health needs. It provides both short breaks and full-time residential care. Staff will perform health procedures, intimate and personal care and moving and handling tasks which they receive training for and are competency assessed by health professionals.


The home has been judged as Outstanding by Ofsted for 13 consecutive years. The management and staff team are well established, highly skilled, highly trained, knowledgeable, and work together cohesively to ensure that an outstanding service is always delivered to children.

As the Deputy Manager your role will include the following:

To be responsible for the running of the home in the absence of the Registered Manager. To be responsible for all matter safeguarding matters that may arise within the service. To ensure that effective, strength based, nurturing relationships are built and maintained between all colleagues, children, and staff. To provide leadership, guidance, and robust management to the staff team both while the manager is present in the home and in his/her absence. To demonstrate highly effective communication skills and offer a clear sense of direction to all staff. Work with the Registered Manager to ensure that appropriately qualified and experienced staff are recruited in accordance with NCC policy and procedure. To work closely with Human Resources when staffing matters arise to ensure that there is no drift or delay in addressing performance matters that can impact on the care of children. To maintain high standards of care to children at all times and without compromise. This will include participating in and undertaking regular audits and reviews of the quality systems within the home. To develop and maintain good working relationships within a multi-disciplinary team of individual involved in a child life.

You must have 3 years' experience of working with children and young people in a managerial capacity within a residential setting and a minimum of 2 years working with children with disabilities.

Additionally, there are extensive training and development opportunities, and you will receive a full induction and support to integrate you into the service. Regular, ongoing, supportive supervision will be offered by the Registered Manager and a mentor will be provided when you join the service.
