About the Role
We are recruiting a dedicated and confident Deputy Manager (Peripatetic) to support our services across DGMHA East (Dumfries Outreach, Craigshields, Castle Douglas). You will work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care, operational compliance, and positive outcomes for the people we support. In the Registered Manager's absence, you will take on shared managerial responsibility, providing continuity of leadership and safe, effective service delivery.
What You'll Do
As Deputy Manager, you will:
Support the day-to-day operational delivery of our services, ensuring care and support plans, risk assessments and records (e.g. medication records, MAR charts and access notes) are accurate and up-to-date.
Contribute to care planning and review meetings, and support regular service user reviews.
Act as a first responder for safeguarding concerns, incidents and complaints when on shift or in the absence of the Registered Manager, ensuring appropriate recording, investigation and escalation.
Support medication administration oversight and related audits where applicable.
Participate in quality assurance activities, audits and compliance checks, helping to implement and monitor action plans.
Provide leadership and supervision to staff, including coaching, mentoring, induction, training and performance support.
Assist with staff scheduling and rota planning to maintain safe staffing levels.
Act as a key contact for service users, families, partner agencies and external professionals, maintaining positive working relationships.
Deputise for the Registered Manager as required, ensuring continuity of leadership and responsive support across services.
About You
You will ideally have:
Proven experience in a care or support setting, with experience in supervision, leadership or team-leading roles.
A strong understanding of person-centred support, care planning, risk assessment, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance.
A recognised qualification in Health & Social Care (e.g. SVQ Level 3 or equivalent), with management/leadership qualifications (Level 4/5) desirable.
Excellent communication, organisational and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
Confidence in record-keeping, digital documentation and administrative tasks.
A compassionate, person-centred approach with a commitment to dignity, rights and wellbeing.
