DEPUTY MANAGER



This vacancy is for a Registered RGN/RMN/RNLD with relevant nursing and management experience within nursing home environments.

Potential candidates must have previous experience at this level

to support with all aspects of service management and delivery, nursing oversight, staff management, quality assurance/completion of audits, occupancy, nursing assessments.

Full time hours to vary based on needs of the home, combination of nursing shifts (if required) and supernumerary hours.

Requirement to be flexible and support the Home Manager to cover any shortfalls as needed.

Contract:

Permanent.

STATUTORY REQUIREMENT:



The postholder must hold proof of current relevant registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC). Postholder must have integrity and be of good character and be both physically and mentally fit for the post.

RESPONSIBLE TO:



Home Manager and Registered Provider/Director.

JOB SUMMARY:



Support the Registered Home Manager in the operational day-to-day management of the home, ensuring staffing levels are maintained, high standards of care and continued compliance with relevant legislation.

To promote and oversee professional, Clinical, administrative, and care planning within the Home in accordance with current Care Quality Commission (CQC)

To ensure that all care standards are being adhered to. To ensure that the health and welfare of the Service Users is maintained, monitored and Managed.

To be flexible in working time and practices to ensure continuity of care.

To ensure all staff of all departments follow procedures and ensure implementation.

To be physically fit for the post.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF POST



To ensure that the care is conducted to the highest standards compliant within Company procedures and statutory requirements, in such a way as to ensure the best possible care for the residents and not bring the Home or its service users into disrepute.

To uphold the Company's Statement of Purpose and Company's Philosophy of Care and adhere to these principals.

To maintain and ensure confidentiality regarding all aspects of care.

To report any behaviour or action within the Care Home which adversely affects the well-being or safety of any Service User in compliance with Company procedure and Regulation 37 of the Care Homes Regulation 2000.

To supervise and delegate responsibility within the realms of Nursing staff, Care Staff and Domestic Staff s.

To ensure that the Home has adequate staff cover as dictated by the Home Manager and to be knowledgeable in the Company's Policies and Procedures to cover any shortfalls.

To be knowledgeable in and ensure staff follow all policies and procedures relevant to the Home, including but not limited to medication requirements, Environmental Health, Fire, Health and Safety at work, dignity at work for all, fair working practices and appropriate employment practices.

To assist in ensuring the security of all Service Users and the premises through the observance of security procedures and the challenging of any strangers in the home.

To at all times act as an Ambassador of Inspired Life Care Limited

To ensure you and all staff are suitably uniformed.

To support the Manager in the safe and appropriate running of the Home, and to deputise in the Home Manager's absence.

To be able and competent to ensure service continuity and adherence to procedures in the absence of the Home Manager.

Completion of monthly internal quality assurance audits, formulation and completion of required action plans.

Completion of CQC notifications

Completion of safeguarding notifications as per local policy

Oversight and management of incidents, review, actions and identifying any additional measures required to minimise risks.

All aspects of staff management, not limited to carrying out supervisions and appraisals of staff in the home and ensuring any issues or training needs are identified

Completion of DOLs applications, ensuring compliance with Deprivation of Liberty processes and The Mental Capacity Act 2005

CLINICAL



To oversee and ensure that service user's medication is correctly administered, monitored and ordered in accordance with National Midwifery Council legislation.

To be competent in nursing clinical skills, not limited to-

Medication administration, care planning, end of life care, dementia care, wound care, catheter care.

To be knowledgeable regarding the use of equipment and facilities within the Home.

To be knowledgeable regarding emergency procedures pertaining to our service users and to attend Training Courses if required.

To respond quickly and appropriately to the physical, spiritual, emotional and mental needs of the service users.

To liaise with staff, service users, general practitioners and other multi-disciplinary team members to promote the provision of quality care.

To ensure that service user's individual care needs are being met and care plans are being followed, implemented and amended/updated as appropriate.

To take personal responsibility in becoming fully aware and observant of all Company Policies and Procedures and their implementation.

To provide appropriate training and support where required.

To make recommendations as to improvements to policies and procedures as appropriate

To lead when required and according to staffing levels, providing support to nursing and care on the units as required.

ADMINISTRATIVE



To be knowledgeable of all of the Home's procedures including but not limited to disciplinary and grievances.

To maintain good working relationships.

To comply with The Care Standards Act 2000.

To advocate No Secrets Policy.

To ensure that Service Users Care Plans are regularly reviewed, implemented and maintained correctly reflecting Service Users needs.

To attend and contribute to meetings with relevant professionals as needed

To ensure any environmental issues are acted upon to ensure health and safety

To anticipate and avert problems wherever possible.

To identify and make suggestions for change and improvement in the day to day running of the home, with support from the Home Manager

To contribute during Inspections and Quality Monitoring visits from external agencies

To support to ensure staff complete their mandatory training as per company requirements

TRAINING



To keep up to date with recent developments, attend relevant courses and inform and encourage other staff in all aspects of relevant care.

In accordance with NMC Regulations ensure that you undertake sufficient number of hours training over a 3 year period in order to re-register.

GENERAL



To undertake any other duties as reasonably required and of which you are capable

To support the Home Manager during out of office hours, providing support to the home in event of emergency.

To work towards and to constantly review where improvements can be made in the Home for the betterment of the Service Users or any customers/clients of the Home
