Purpose of the Role
To provide leadership and operational support to the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of Abbey House, ensuring high-quality support and safeguarding for young people aged 16-18 transitioning to independence.
The post-holder will lead by example, acting as a role model and senior practitioner -- delivering direct keyworking sessions while taking delegated responsibility for rotas, supervision, reports, and compliance tasks.

Key Responsibilities
1.
Operational Leadership
Support the Registered Manager in the daily operation of Abbey House.
Take delegated responsibility in the absence of the Manager (e.g., handovers, staff supervision, safeguarding decisions).
Ensuring the home meets
Ofsted Supported Accommodation Standards
and
Children's Home Regulations
where relevant.
Monitor daily logs, incident reports, and ensure follow-ups are completed.
Ensuring complaince and conducting Weekly and Monthly Audit
Conduct spot checks, room checks, and ensure health and safety standards are upheld.
2.
Staff Supervision and Team Development
Supervise and mentor Support Workers, providing feedback and training.
Oversee rota planning, shift allocation, and annual leave schedules.
Support staff with reflective supervision and encourage trauma-informed practice.
Facilitate team meetings and ensure clear communication across shifts.
3.
Keyworking and Young People's Support
Hold a small caseload (1-2 young people) and deliver structured keywork sessions.
Support young people with independence skills, emotional wellbeing, and life planning.
Ensure risk assessments, support plans, and pathway plans are current and robust.
Liaise with social workers, education providers, and health professionals to promote multi-agency working.
Promote positive outcomes -- education, employment, health, and community integration.
4.
Compliance, Quality, and Safeguarding
Support the Registered Manager in completing audits, Regulation 44-style monitoring, and action plans.
Report and respond to safeguarding incidents following company policy.
Ensure accurate record-keeping in Charms and other systems.

5.
Administration and Reporting
Contribute to monthly KPI reports and placement progress summaries.
Maintain young people's files and ensure timely upload of documentation.
Support with referral responses, assessments, and placement proposals as required.
Assist in preparing for local authority reviews and Ofsted inspections
Desirable
Minimum 2 years' experience in 16+ or semi-independent supported accommodation
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (or working towards)
Experience supporting young people with EBD, ASD, or mild learning disabilities
Experience using Charms or similar care management software
Previous Deputy or Senior role experience

Progression Pathway
This hybrid role is designed as a stepping stone to Deputy Manager or Registered Manager level, with mentorship, leadership development, and support to complete Level 5 Leadership & Management qualifications.
Requirements
Previous experience working with children is essential; childcare experience is highly desirable.
Strong communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with children and their families.
Familiarity with developing care plans is an advantage.
Proficiency in IT systems for documentation and reporting purposes is beneficial.
