We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to oversee daily operations within a care home specialising in elderley, including dementia and Alzheimer's care. Working 20 hours per week over 4 days out of 7 in a 44-bed care home with nursing. The successful candidate will support the manager in delivering high-quality care, supervising staff, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in assisted living, nursing, or home care to demonstrate leadership and management skills within a compassionate environment. The Deputy Manager will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, caring, and professional atmosphere for residents and staff alike.
Responsibilities
Assist the Manager in the creation, evaluation and update of personalised care plans for residents, including those requiring specialised dementia or Alzheimer's care.
Complete risk assessments as and when required
Oversee documentation and monitoring forms
Supervise and support care staff to ensure the highest standards of care are maintained at all times.
Oversee medication administration procedures in accordance with legal and organisational policies.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and quality standards across the care home.
Coordinate with healthcare professionals to deliver holistic care tailored to individual needs.
Maintain accurate documentation related to resident care, staff records, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in audits and inspections, ensuring the care home meets all necessary standards.
Oversee the running of the care home when the Manager is away
On call when the Manager is unavailable
Skills
Proven experience in nursing home environment particularly within senior or dementia care settings.
Strong leadership qualities with previous supervising or management experience within a care home or similar setting.
In-depth knowledge of care plans, medication administration, and regulatory compliance related to elderly or vulnerable adults' care.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
Compassionate approach combined with excellent communication skills to support residents' wellbeing and motivate staff.
Ability to lead by example while fostering a positive team environment focused on delivering exceptional person-centered care.
Familiarity with Alzheimer's and dementia-specific care techniques is highly desirable. This role is ideal for motivated professionals committed to providing compassionate senior care while developing their management expertise within a supportive environment.
Completion of Level 5 Diploma in management and Leadership or a willingness to work towards it.
