We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager/ SENCO to support the leadership team within our educational and childcare setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for fostering a nurturing environment for children. This role involves assisting with daily operations, supervising staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational programmes. A background in early childhood education, special education, or related fields such as speech therapy or applied behaviour analysis is highly desirable. The Deputy Manager will play a vital role in mentoring staff, managing behaviour, and supporting children's developmental needs.
Responsibilities
Assist the Manager in overseeing daily centre operations, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
Support programme planning and implementation, incorporating specialised activities such as physical education, toddler care, and preschool programmes.
Supervise and mentor teaching staff, providing guidance on behaviour management, lesson delivery, and child engagement strategies.
Collaborate with parents and carers to discuss children's progress and behavioural concerns, employing effective communication skills.
Coordinate staff schedules and manage resource allocation to optimise centre efficiency.
Ensure health and safety standards are maintained at all times within the centre environment.
Support specialised interventions such as speech therapy or applied behaviour analysis when required.
Assist with administrative tasks including proofreading documents, maintaining records, and preparing reports.
Contribute to creating an inclusive environment that supports children with diverse needs, including those requiring special education support.
Qualifications
Proven experience working with children in early childhood education or childcare settings.
Knowledge of special education practices and behaviour management techniques.
Experience with tutoring or mentoring children in academic subjects such as maths or literacy.
Skills in speech therapy or applied behaviour analysis are advantageous.
Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with parents, staff, and external professionals.
Organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
Relevant qualifications in early childhood education, childcare, special education or related fields are preferred.
