We currently have a Deputy Mental Health Practitioner Vacancy -

30 Hours/Week




We have a brilliant opportunity for a registered Mental Health Practitioner within our Older Persons Neighbourhood Team.


This role is initially based at our Spinney Hill site but will require some travel across the City coupled with some home working. The Team provides a service Monday-Friday 9-5pm negotiable to accommodate 30/hours.


Based within our City East Neighbourhood Team you will provide assessment, intervention and support for older people with both functional and organic mental health challenges. The service aims to provide specialist assessment, support, and education to prevent admission or support discharge from hospital. Therefore, your main service users will be the over 65's with functional health difficulties and all age organic mental health.


The role as Deputy also includes line management responsibilities working closely with the Team Leader.


This is a wonderful opportunity for those who have experience with older people and within the community as well as clinical supervision and appraisals. Ideally you will also have a real passion to mentor students.


Due to needing to travel around for this role, you will need to be a driving licence holder for this role.

Summary (Main duties and responsibilities)




A Deputy Community job involves supporting the management and delivery of community-based healthcare services. This role typically involves assisting the team leader in clinical, managerial, and educational aspects, ensuring high-quality care and smooth service operation. Specific duties may include coordinating nursing teams, providing clinical leadership, assisting with care planning, and contributing to service development.


Responsibilities:


Clinical Leadership and Support:

Assisting the Team Leader:



The deputy will work closely with the team leader to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the service.


Clinical Supervision:



Providing guidance and support to other nurses and healthcare assistants, including supervision and delegation of tasks.


Care Planning and Delivery:



Participating in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients/service users.


Medication Administration:



Assisting with and overseeing medication administration, ensuring safety and accuracy.


Maintaining Standards:



Ensuring that service standards are maintained and that care is delivered according to policies and procedures.


Management and Coordination:

Shift Coordination:

Coordinating the nursing team during shifts, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix.

Absence Cover:

Covering for the team leader in their absence, taking responsibility for the unit or service.

Incident Management:

Responding to incidents and emergencies, and taking appropriate action.

Communication:

Maintaining effective communication within the team and with other healthcare professionals.
Service Development and Improvement:

Quality Improvement:

Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and service development.

Evidence-Based Practice:

Implementing and promoting evidence-based practice in the delivery of care.

Training and Education:

Participating in the training and development of junior staff.

Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Working:

Working effectively within a multidisciplinary team, participating in case discussions and contributing to decision-making.

Deputy Team Leader (Mental Health):



May involve managing a caseload of patients with various mental health conditions, assessing needs, and implementing care plans.


Registered Mental health Practitioner:

A registered qualification is required.

Clinical Expertise:

Demonstrated experience in the relevant clinical area.

Leadership and Management Skills:

The ability to lead and motivate a team, manage workload, and make decisions.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and colleagues.
