Job Overview



MLH Club Limited is looking for a Deputy Playworker at our Out of School Clubs with Level 3 experience in Childcare to work within our settings in Addiscombe and Shirley, Croydon that supports the development of children between the hours of Monday to Friday - 7:00am to 9:00am and between the hours of 2:00pm to 6:00pm (and during our Holiday Clubs (with variable hours available).

Person Specification:



We are looking for an enthused individual, fun and who loves playing and caring for primary school children from the ages of 3 to 11+ years in our Out of School Clubs.

You must show diligence in everything you do and have a positive attitude, and be prepared to roll up your sleeves to join in all activities including school drop-offs and pick-ups.

Main duties include:



Helping the manager with day-to-day management of the setting including planning, preparing and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.

Carrying out administrative tasks, such as producing daily registers, assist in ensuring that other relevant paperwork are carried out, risk assessments, accident forms, fire drills, etc.

Providing comprehensive care for the children including collecting them from school and delivering them safely to parents/carers.

Providing support and supervision to playworkers and volunteers in the absence of the Manager and also taking on responsibility as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Setting up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment.

Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.

Administering first aid when necessary and ensuring that records are kept of all accidents and treatment given.

Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities to create an environment that is creative with arts, crafts, games, and baking activities.

Encouraging parental involvement in the club.

Facilitating good communication with all members of the organisation, parents, schools, and childcare and play-related agencies.

Undertaking appropriate and relevant training and the ability to take responsibility for own personal development.

Keeping the work environment healthy, safe and secure.

Working within the framework of the club's policies and procedures, and the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The successful candidate will be part of a diverse team supporting the children from several local primary schools within the Croydon borough.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 12.75-14.25 per hour

Expected hours: 6 - 25 per week
