You will be able to demonstrate a high level of knowledge and skills including being proficient in extended clinical roles expected in the care of the acute patient. As a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse it is expected you can make justified decisions in the absence of the Sister, and assist in the development of nurse-led services. Must have previous experience with the NHS and Acute medicine.
You will need to be able to work well under pressure and build strong communication links with the Clinical Site Team, Emergency Department, Management and the Multi-Disciplinary Teams. You will oversee a designated team of staff for whom you will organise and be responsible for training, appraisal, support and development, as well as addressing and resolving complaints and adverse incidents.
They will be responsible for the safe co-ordination of the Same Day Emergency Care Clinic on a shift to shift basis ensuring patient flow is maintained in a timely fashion.
They will be responsible for maintain the safety of the clinic on a shift by shift basis, escalating any issues to the Band 7 team within hours or to clinical site out of hours.
They will deliver planned care to a group of patients working within the standards of proficiency out lined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and in accordance with Trust policies and protocols.
They will demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team and provide support/guidance to less experienced staff/learners within the clinical environment as needed.
They will be responsible for a team of junior staff, ensuring they have timely appraisals and training needs are up to date.

Will be based at Poole with expectation of cross site working. The whole service will be moving across to the Bournemouth site and so successful candidate will be expected to move to the Bournemouth site in January 2026.
Please note if the role or service is relocated as part of a planned move, employees will not be eligible for excess
mileage reimbursement. Travel from the postholder's home to the new work base will be considered a normal
commute. Any other changes not related to this relocation will be managed according to the relevant Trust or National
terms and conditions.
Essential Criteria
NMC Registered Nurse
Teaching Qualification, SLIP/Mentorship
Experience at Band 5 Level in relevant speciality within the NHS
Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience
Demonstrable experience within relevant specialities
IT literate using hospital systems
Be able to retrieve relevant investigations
Understand the importance of admissions and discharges
Has knowledge of Acute Medicine protocols
Understand the roles of the Emergency department co-ordinator & the Clinical Site Team
Organisation & Planning skills
