Deputy Store Manager

Bath, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

At Piglet in Bed,

we're on a mission to become the home of long-lasting, natural comfort. Dreamt up in 2017 from our Founder Jess's garden shed in West Sussex, Piglet in Bed began with a simple idea: the best homes aren't perfect, they're personal. What started as a small collection of linen bedding has grown to include new fabrics and unmistakably 'Piglet' designs, complemented by our curated selection of sleepwear and homewares. But one thing hasn't changed: our focus on the incredible team who make Piglet happen. As our team grows, we still like to keep the calendar full of socials, competitions, and chances to see each other. Teamwork is at the heart of everything we do, so we're very excited that you're considering joining us!

Role: Deputy Store Manager

Location: Bath

Hours: Full time, or part time 29 hours a week over 4 days (both to include Sundays)

Salary: FTE 29,500 or part time equivalent 22,800

What you'll be getting up to

Teamwork

You'll be a key member of the Piglet in Bed team, supporting your manager to represent the Bath store within the business. You'll support with building and developing a passionate team, who in turn will embody the Piglet in Bed values and build their own community in your local area. You'll support with the wellbeing and safety of your team, and your customers. You'll communicate regularly with our retail operations team, as well as building relationships with your fellow store managers to provide peer support. You'll lead by example, ensuring everybody understands targets and performance, and understands their role in success.
Trading

You'll get to know your customers and understand what works and what doesn't. You'll work with the store manager to design and implement new initiatives. You'll become an expert on our product range, engaging with shoppers to answer queries, give advice and share inspiration. You'll familiarise yourself with the brand story and deliver consistently on brand guidelines. You'll think innovatively, and be unafraid to bring new ideas to the table, encouraging others to do the same. You'll be able to step in and oversee reporting when required, and liaise with the HQ team if you foresee any issues or opportunities. You'll immerse yourself in the local community, ensuring our space becomes much more than just a shop.

Who we're looking for:

You'll have a positive persona, and be the kind of person to brighten up other people's day. You'll need to be inherently sociable; this role is very much about community building. You'll need to be a confident leader; unafraid to make tough decisions when needed, and lead by example. You'll need to be motivated and proactive; seeking opportunity everywhere! This role would be great for somebody looking to learn the ropes and ultimately develop into a store manager.

What it's like to work at Piglet in Bed:

You'll be part of a small team still in the relatively-early days of our retail journey, so you'll really have the ability to make your mark, and grow within the company. Your store will have budget for regular social events (and we don't just mean a pint after work - so far we've done yoga, pottery making and hiking to name a few!). You'll also be invited to socials with the whole team, with travel and accommodation included. You'll receive 50% discount on our products, alongside extra gifts on your birthday and anniversaries. A quarterly bonus scheme, subject to your store meeting their targets. You'll get access to our high street voucher discount platform, as well as our wellbeing platform, where you can earn up to 30/month in vouchers for participating in wellbeing activities. You'll be eligible for life assurance at 1x salary. You'll get 33 days holiday per year (pro rata if applicable), with minimal restrictions on when you can use it (and we'll make sure everyone gets a fair break at Christmas!) We'll train you as a mental health first aider, to help you be the best leader you can possibly be.

If this sounds like the role for you, apply now by submitting your CV. Your personality is way more important to us than perfect grammar, so please consider not using AI in your application - we just want to get to know the authentic you!

All applicants must have the right to work in the UK as Piglet in Bed are unable to sponsor or transfer any visa applications at this time.
