The Oxford University Museum of Natural History is looking for a committed, proactive Deputy Visitor Experience Manager. Along with the Visitor Experience team, this is a central role within the Museum, welcoming the Museum's 830,000 annual visitors, providing information, support and practical assistance as well as requesting donations in support of the Museum's work, all delivered with the highest standards of customer care.
Visitor Experience also operates the Museum's reception desk and so liaises and communicates with all other departments in the Museum as well as colleagues at the University's other Gardens Libraries and Museums sites and the central Divisional Office. The Museum is a vibrant and busy working environment both inside and outside of opening hours and Visitor Experience are a friendly, approachable and adaptable support team who are quick to help anybody in the Museum who needs them.
This is a permanent, full-time post, working 36.5 hours per week, Sunday to Thursday.
The role involves lifting and moving equipment and furniture.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a satisfactory Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) due to access to Museum collections.
About You
You will have experience of working in a busy, public-facing role and must be committed to providing exceptional customer service and be resilient in the face of challenging situations.
You will be able to demonstrate your ability to deputise and direct the Visitor Experience team, and must display a professional attitude, a calm approach and an ability to lead the team by example.
Confidence in using Microsoft Office suite and learning new software is also essential.
