Deputy Ward Manager

Lincoln, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

The Vales are looking to recruit a dynamic Deputy Ward Manager to join their team within their 15-bed female high-dependency rehabilitation inpatient unit at Discovery House. Applicants must possess attitudes and values that reflect the excellent standards we are expecting within the Vales team. The Vales provides treatment and interventions for women with severe and enduring mental ill-health in a locked environment to support their ongoing recovery and social integration.

The whole service is focused on working towards independence and recovery to enable service users to regain health and mental wellness before moving on to live as independently as possible in an open environment or their local communities. In return we will offer the opportunity to be part of an excellent and developing team that holds the highest possible values and work ethic within a purpose-built environment. You will have a planned induction and work within a robust framework of regular professional supervision, and you will have opportunities for development as your experience increases.

Applicants must be a Registered Nurse in Mental Health or Learning Disability and must be able to work a range of flexible hours to include nights and weekends. This is a substantive post on the Vales; however, the successful candidate will be required at times to support and cover other areas with inpatients.

You should be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills with the ability to assess and prioritise clinical situations. The management of effective communication between medical and nursing staff, both verbal and written, is a key element of this role.

You will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of the ward, monitoring and auditing, and ensuring the nursing team delivers high-quality care to patients who access our service. In addition to this, the candidate will be able to develop and create a culture that aspires to delivering best practice for individuals using our services and demonstrate effective communication and promote a culture of transparency and equity.
