At The Myton Hospices, we provide specialist care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses, and their loved ones, from the point of diagnosis to end of life. We are a much-loved and well supported charity, at the heart of our community. We have three hospices, a range of community services, and 26 charity shops in Coventry and Warwickshire.

About the role



An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Nurse to join us us the Deputy Ward Manager of our Warwick Inpatient Unit. You'll ensure there is close communication across our Hospice at Home and Inpatient Services teams, providing support across the community and inpatient setting as needed and working closely with the Deputy Manager of our Hospice at Home service.

Alongside deputising for and supporting the Ward Manager with leading the nursing team, you'll also need to foster an atmosphere that reflects our philosophy and approach.

Your role will include:

Acting as a role model, providing guidance, and leading by example Ensuring an effective clinical learning environment, identifying staff learning needs, and promoting a culture of learning Supporting the Ward Manager with appraisals, performance and absence management Participating in the recruitment and induction of staff members and volunteers Assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and monitoring care to ensure high standards, and taking action if standards are not met Ensuring effective, efficient utilisation of time, people and resources through delegating appropriately, prudent stock control, and involvement in admission and discharge Participating in the senior nurse on-call rota
It will be based on site in Warwick.

About you



We would love to hear from you if you have:

Current NMC registration and a degree/diploma-level nursing qualification An assessing, mentoring or teaching qualification Evidence of relevant continuing professional development Experience of leading a multidisciplinary team and mentoring/supervising nursing staff Awareness of and experience of participating in audits, research and clinical governance Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication
This role will require an enhanced DBS check including the adult's barred list because you will be providing healthcare to adults.
