We're seeking a
Design and Innovation Director
- a dynamic leader and visionary thinker, who can combine creativity, strategy, and delivery excellence to shape the next generation of transformational learning. As an experienced collaborator and creator of innovative courses and materials along with creating a clear strategy for our growing organisation.
This is a unique role for someone that can inspire and deliver: someone who can be hands on, lead programme design, has demonstrable ability to lead by example, teach / present the resources being created to create a uniform approach to service delivery, inspiring creative teams and shape training content with passion, insight, and imagination.
Position Summary:
As the Design and Innovation Director, you'll work collaboratively across the business and with a wide range of employer partners to design transformational programmes that deliver measurable impact and lasting change.
You'll take ownership of creating all learning and assessment materials, drawing on insights and ideas from our experienced subject specialists. You will lead the design, structure, and production of resources to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with employer needs. You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment, able to manage multiple priorities while building systems, processes, and people capability across the organisation. This is a role with significant creative autonomy - ideal for someone who combines hands-on design excellence with strategic foresight
You will be enthusiastic, dynamic, and possess a can-do attitude, along with quantifiable industry experience and occupational competence. You will have a proven track record of leveraging IT, AI, and leading-edge interactive tools to create engaging and inspiring activities and content of the highest calibre, tailored to meet the needs of some of the most prestigious corporate organisations in our portfolio. You'll also oversee the wider curriculum offer, ensuring that enrichment topics such as CIAG, Safeguarding and EDI, as well as key learner and employer materials, reflect both our brand and Ofsted's expectations
As a key member of the Leadership Team, you will set the strategic direction for programme design and innovation, champion our purpose, values, and learner-first philosophy, and drive continuous improvement across everything we deliver.
What You'll Do
Lead the design and creation of innovative apprenticeship and commercial training programmes.
Collaborate with Levy-paying employers to co-create bespoke, high-impact programmes that deliver measurable outcomes.
Map employers' internal development pathways into tailored apprenticeship models.
Conduct research and curate credible, evidence-based content - including relevant models, theories and frameworks - ensuring programmes build the knowledge, skills and behaviours learners need for success in the workplace and at End Point Assessment.
Design engaging content adaptable across multiple apprenticeship standards and subject areas, currently including International Freight Forwarding, Youth Support Worker, Team Leader, Operations Manager and Coaching Professional (with the flexibility to expand into new areas as the business evolves).
Design, test and refine our Momentous Learning Cycle workshops - our unique methodology for experiential and reflective learning.
Pilot workshops, mentor facilitators, and ensure a consistent, high-quality learner experience.
Support commercial projects by providing subject-matter insight and contribute to business development by shaping proposals, tender content and client-facing materials that reflect our innovative approach.
Develop clear systems, structures and processes for programme design and delivery, ensuring efficiency, quality, and consistency across the wider team.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritising effectively and adapting quickly to meet business needs and deadlines.
Drive continuous improvement through evaluation, feedback, and data-driven insights.
Identify emerging trends (AI, digital learning, future skills) and translate them into cutting-edge programme designs.
Represent Momentous Learning at events and in the wider skills sector as a thought leader and ambassador for innovation.
Ensure every learning experience is not only creative and engaging but underpinned by professional rigour and aligned with employer expectations - delivering measurable impact for both learners and businesses.
What You'll Bring
Proven success designing apprenticeship and commercial learning programmes, ideally for Levy-paying employers.
Strong research and content development capability - able to synthesise ideas, models and frameworks into engaging, practical learning materials.
Adaptability across a range of subject specialisms, with a willingness to learn new sectors and translate complex information into accessible, inspiring content.
Experience translating employer L&D frameworks into effective, measurable learning pathways.
Strong facilitation or teaching capability, ideally with a recognised teaching qualification.
A track record of driving innovation and impact in learning design.
An organised, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure.
A willingness and eagerness to adapt, respond and contribute wherever needed across the business - combining creativity with practical problem-solving.
Experience developing logical systems and processes to support collaboration and continuous improvement.
Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
Strong project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver on time.
Enthusiasm, creativity, and a collaborative mindset - with a genuine passion for learning and growth.
