We are seeking an experienced

Design Coordinator

to join us as we take on a number of exciting projects in the Manchester area. You would play a crucial role supporting the Design team in managing and coordinating the design process throughout the lifecycle of the projects



This is a fantastic opportunity for a Design Coordinator to take a role with a successful Tier One Contractor, where you can expect full training and support, as you pursue career development.



We are looking to speak with candidates who have a relevant Construction related degree such as Architectural Technology. Candidates should also possess excellent organisational skills and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business.



Key Responsibilities:



Expected duties for the Design Coordinator:

Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure the highest standards of design and construction, within company protocols and compliant with ISO Documentation: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including control documents, approvals, reports and meeting minutes. Problem Solving: Address and resolve any design-related issues that arise during the design and construction process. Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes, regulations, contractual, and industry standards. Building Safety Act: A general understanding of the Industry changes brought about by the 2022 B.S.A and the progressive transition of construction sector mechanisms necessary to evidence compliance through the respective gateways . Coordinate Design Activities: Manage and oversee design-related activities, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines. Liaise with Stakeholders: Act as the primary point of contact between the design team, clients, and contractors, facilitating clear and effective communication. Providing input into programmes where required, including tender, design, construction, and Variation / Compensation Event programmes. Review and Approve Designs: Evaluate design proposals, drawings, and specifications to ensure they meet project requirements and standards, and to raise technical queries accordingly.



Person Specification



Essential:



Degree or equivalent qualification in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or sufficient on site experience related to the above disciplines. Proven experience in a design coordination role within the construction Strong understanding of design processes, building regulations, and construction methodologies. Proficient in understanding of design and coordination tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent verbal and written communication skills across the board High level of accuracy in reviewing and managing design documentation. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.



Desirable:



Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RIBA, CIOB, ICE). Experience working in a BIM environment Exposure to live construction projects and understanding of site constraints. Knowledge of sustainable design principles and environmental certifications (e.g., BREEAM, LEED). Familiarity with JCT or NEC contracts and their implications on design deliverables.
