Overview


Encocam have celebrated over 35 years in the engineering sector taking road safety to its highest level as a world leader in crash test barriers and dummies. We are seeking a skilled and innovative Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing high-quality engineering solutions that meet client specifications and industry standards. This role requires a blend of creativity, technical knowledge, and problem-solving skills to ensure the successful execution of projects from concept through to completion.

Duties



Deliver engineering designs, taking methods of manufacturing into account. Awareness of and be involved in the product development life cycle (design, develop, test, manufacture, amend, implement etc). Apply standard practices to solve issues for initial containment and/or for future prevention (5 whys/herring bone/route cause etc). Help identify trends/anomalies that may steer development (as part the product development cycle). Understanding of how to test and evaluate designs. Have knowledge of (or ability to research) materials, including metals, plastic, and rubbers, to be able to support/give guidance on material selection. Support Engineering projects, working in a group or independently when necessary. Produce technical documents, reports and presentations for both internal and external use (work instructions, job packs, etc.). Contribute to development work and report findings the technical library. Awareness of regulations and standards to support product development.

Skills



Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) for 3D modelling and design. Strong understanding of logic controllers and their application in system design. Experience with MATLAB and Simulink for simulation and analysis purposes. Ability to read and interpret technical schematics accurately. Familiarity with GD&T principles to ensure precision in engineering drawings. Excellent mechanical knowledge with a focus on practical applications in design engineering. Strong analytical skills with a proven ability in root cause analysis to troubleshoot design challenges. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise with team members and stakeholders efficiently.
