As a Design Engineer, you'll join a team of dedicated mechanical and electronic engineers based in-house. You'll drive the end-to-end product design process--from concept through to prototyping, validation, and production hand-off--developing bespoke sensors and condition-monitoring systems that meet stringent industrial requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Product Design & Development*
- Create mechanical and/or electronic designs for devices such as accelerometers, proximity probes, LVDTs, and integrated monitoring systems.
- Develop both standard components and customised solutions tailored to client needs.
Prototyping & Testing*
- Build prototypes and conduct rigorous validation and performance tests.
- Collaborate closely with the test department to ensure reliability, durability, and compliance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration*
- Work with Sales, Production, and Test teams to align engineering solutions with manufacturing capabilities and customer expectations.
- Coordinate with Quality and Compliance teams to adhere to relevant standards (e.g., ATEX, IECEx, ISO 9001)
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Produce clear technical documentation, including CAD drawings, BOMs, test reports, and design specifications.
- Contribute to continuous process improvements to enhance design efficiency, product delivery times, and customer satisfaction.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electronic, or a closely related Engineering discipline.
Demonstrated experience in:
Mechanical and/or electronic design.
Sensor technology or transducer development (e.g., vibration, proximity, displacement).
Designing for harsh industrial environments and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD), and familiarity with PCBs/schematic design is a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to turn client requirements into functional, manufacturable products.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Attributes
Experience with industrial instrumentation or condition monitoring systems.
Knowledge of industry certifications (ATEX, IECEx, ISO 9001) and experience developing products for hazardous or intrinsically safe environments.
A proactive mindset, adaptable to evolving customer needs and tight project timelines.
Previous exposure to full product development lifecycles--from concept through to manufacturing.
