The Role



We are looking for a practical and detail-oriented Design Engineer to support the development a range of engineered products and bespoke solutions. The ideal candidate will be a good communicator, mechanically biased, comfortable working with sheet metal and thermal solutions and have a strong grasp of manufacturing processes, CAD and engineering documentation.

You will play a key role in product design, sales and manufacturing support, and drawing control, working cross-functionally with production, procurement, quality, and sales.

Key Responsibilities



Design and detail stainless steel products using 2D and 3D CAD.

Develop and maintain accurate engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical files.

Create design concepts and detailed solutions for bespoke customer requirements.

Collaborate with colleagues to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.

Support continuous improvement projects, product standardisation, and value engineering.

Work closely with sales and project management teams to provide technical input and estimates.

Ensure compliance with relevant standards, pressure vessel codes, and CE/UKCA regulations.

Participate in design reviews, prototype trials, client meetings and factory acceptance tests where required.

Essential Skills & Experience



Degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Proven experience in a manufacturing or engineering design role (ideally in stainless steel, vessels, tanks, refrigeration, skid-sets or similar).

Strong skills in 3D CAD software (preferably AutoCAD Inventor + AutoCAD LT).

Good understanding of fabrication techniques including welding, sheet metal forming, pipework and assembly.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple design tasks simultaneously.

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Desirable Attributes



Experience with SAP-MRP systems tools.

Familiarity with fluid mechanics, thermal systems, or hygienic process design.

Hands-on experience working with sales & production teams and suppliers.

Continuous improvement mindset.

Knowledge of relevant design standards (e.g. PED, BS EN 13445, ASME) is highly desirable.
