Design Engineer - Mechanical (Full time, Permanent)
As a mechanical design engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of offshore and subsea equipment.
About the role
As a mechanical design engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of offshore and subsea equipment. You will be involved in the full life cycle of projects from the client requirements to design, development, installation, test, customer acceptance, documentation, training and occasional after sales support. You will provide support to other business functions including Sales, Project Management, Procurement, Production, Commissioning, and Documentation.
You will produce conceptual designs from process definitions designing the lay outs of mechanical/hydraulic machinery. This will include stress testing and developing other calculations to support the designs. Alongside the design aspects of this role, you will be involved in design and project reviews, analysis and factory acceptance testing documentation. There may be a requirement to travel abroad and offshore to support this.
You will be working alongside various departments, including controls, software, electronics, electrical, mechanical and project engineering to ensure correct interfacing between each discipline.
Alongside the above you will assist the customer support team with proposals and other sales activities.
What skills and qualifications do I need?
BEng (Hons) Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar with a strong practical background and experience is essential.
Having an enthusiasm for engineering is a must in this role along with a knowledge of fabrication design. You will be a good team player with a positive and proactive approach to get the job the done with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Competent User of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams) with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
You will also have an understanding of geometric tolerances, limits and fits, weld symbols and surface finish.
