Job Description

Hydraulic and Engineering Services Ltd is a versatile engineering company specialising in the repair, supply and manufacture of hydraulic cylinders and associated hydraulic equipment relating to machinery, mobile plant, cranes, marine, recycling and many other industrial areas.

We also undertake all general engineering and manufacturing as well as reclamation repairs.

Our engineering team cover a range of disciplines including diagnostic work, new installations, removal and re-installations of components, upgrades, renewals, hose replacement service, and system monitoring.

We are a privately owned company operating within our 30th year with a wealth of experience within the industry through our team of engineers; currently employing 28 personnel across the range of disciplines we operate in.

We are looking to employ a

Design Engineer

that we can train and develop, you will be office based but no two days are the same - you will be involved in projects large and small designing hydraulic cylinders, systems and associated components both hydraulic and mechanical, as well as supporting customers and colleagues on technical and product queries, ensuring products and systems fit the scope and are fit for purpose, therefore a keen eye for detail is essential.

Main Responsibilities / Tasks:



Working on engineering equipment designs from concept through to competition.

Production of solid works and 2D customer drawings, detailed mechanical production drawings.

Management of company drawings database

Design modifications.

Generation and maintenance of documentation associated with the products/designs.

Technical specification and support both to customer and internal stakeholders, you will need to have a keen eye for detail and be prepared to speak to customers and suppliers on the phone to find a mutually acceptable solution to some of our technical queries, this could be on a large design or a one-off component enquiry direct from the customer.

Sales Quoting

Collaborating with the production team to ensure products are manufactured to design specifications.

The Person:



Mechanical engineering discipline with a minimum of two years design/manufacturing experience.

Experience using Solid Works software, 2D/3D CAD systems.

Experience of detailed design/drawing in 2D/3D CAD modelling within the engineering sector.

Good time-management skills; able to work efficiently individually or as part of a project team.

Good written and oral communication skills.

Methodical approach to problem solving.

Self-motivated, organised, excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude

Good attention to detail.

The person we are looking will be able to work well on their own initiative or as part of a vibrant team in a growing business.
