Salary: Circa 45'000 - 50'000
Introduction
A leading UK-based civil engineering contractor is seeking a talented Design Engineer to join their Technical Services team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on complex infrastructure projects, including heavy civil engineering and tunnelling, while driving innovation and digital engineering practices. The Design Engineer will be responsible for:

• Managing design consultant activities and deliverables to meet programme and client requirements.
• Leading technical aspects of permanent works design and supporting temporary works packages.
• Coordinating design queries, workshops, and interface meetings across internal and external teams.
• Reviewing and reporting on design progress, ensuring compliance with contract and BIM requirements.
• Managing the provision and control of drawings and design documentation.
• Supporting recruitment, training, and development of engineering staff.

The Design Engineer will have:

• Substantial experience in both construction and design, ideally within heavy civil engineering or tunnelling.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, Principal Designer duties, and CDM regulations.
• Proven ability to implement and promote digital engineering practices.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience managing design deliverables and working with external consultants and supply chain.
• A background in sectors such as nuclear, construction, or defence would be highly desirable.
