About the Role
As an Engineering Design Consultant, you will be at the core of our design and technical function -- from creating and modifying product models and drawings to providing structural assessments (FEA), offering technical support, and improving existing designs through value engineering. You'll collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure that products are not only fit for purpose but also optimised for manufacture and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop enclosures and housings in collaboration with sales and technical teams.
Produce accurate CAD models/drawings and carry out structural assessments (FEA).
Provide technical support for both internal teams and external customers.
Respond to and manage technical queries and design change requests.
Drive product cost-efficiency through value engineering and design for manufacture.
Manage and maintain the technical drawing database.
Support the procurement team with technical input and supplier coordination.
Liaise with manufacturing teams to ensure quality and feasibility of designs.
Use CRM tools to document interactions with customers and projects. Assist in testing and compliance processes (e.g., LOLER, Electrical).
The Ideal Candidate
Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks/AutoCAD essential).
Understanding of metal fabrication and welding processes is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of multi-material manufacturing methods.
Clear communicator with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
Organised, detail-focused, and able to juggle multiple projects at once.
A problem-solver with a proactive and innovative mindset.
Confident using Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Teams, SharePoint, etc.
Experience with FEA (training can be provided if needed).
Right to work & live in the UK
Valid Driver's licence
