We are looking for a Design Manager to join our Infrastructure team located in Bedford. As the Design Manager, you will be accountable for management of the design for the package(s) you are allocated, delivery of the design package and associated design services in line with the contracted and agreed plan.
What you'll do:
Performance of your design team, ensuring their deliverables are on time and to the right quality
Management of your designer to see that they engage suitable resources to for their planned activities and progress as planned and programmes updated per contract. Escalating when required.
Coordinate with teams and stakeholders so that the activities that are required to start design and the design programme activities and are coordinated, tracked and managed.
Facilitate technical coordination so that the designs integrate and technically meet the requirements
Manage weekly design reviews and contribute to weekly design management reviews
What you'll bring to the role:
Professionally qualified from a relevant accredited body e.g. Institution of Civil Engineers, Royal Institute of British Architects, Chartered Institute of Building, Engineering Council, Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation, The Institution of Engineering and Technology
Relevant degree (or similar) in the technical discipline being managed e.g. Civil engineering, Building, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering
CSCS Card in suitable category (e.g. Professionally qualified Person or Manager)
Experience of managing direct reports of one or more and in setting goals and development plans for them
Experience of this sector and understanding of the technical governance regime
Experience in managing designers
