Design Manager xe2x80x93 Canary Wharf (Major Data Centre Project)A leading M&E contractor with a proven track record in delivering large-scale data centres, life sciences, and advanced technology projects is seeking an experienced Design Manager to take a lead role on a flagship hyperscale data centre development based in Canary Wharf, London.This is a key leadership position within a dynamic delivery team, offering the opportunity to oversee the coordination and integration of multi-disciplinary design inputs on a technically complex and high-profile project. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in driving design performance, ensuring alignment with project requirements, and managing stakeholder collaboration from early stages through to project completion.Responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate all aspects of the design process across engineering disciplines.
Act as the primary interface between internal design teams, external consultants, and third-party contractors.
Manage the development, review, and approval of design information to meet project timelines and quality standards.
Chair regular design coordination and technical workshops, documenting actions and ensuring timely follow-up.
Ensure compliance with client specifications, regulatory requirements, and company design standards.
Drive value engineering and constructability reviews to optimize solutions and improve project outcomes.
Monitor design risk, resolve issues, and support commercial teams with technical input.
Coordinate with BIM teams to ensure integration of models and design data across platforms.
Oversee the submission process for planning, procurement, and construction documentation.
Compile design progress reports and contribute to monthly project updates for senior management.
Support innovation in design methods, tools, and best practices across the business.Requirements:
Significant experience in a Design Manager role within the construction or M&E sector, ideally on large-scale data centre or high-tech infrastructure projects.
Strong technical background in M&E design coordination.
Proven ability to lead design teams and manage multidisciplinary inputs in a fast-paced project environment.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Working knowledge of BIM tools and processes, including coordination with BIM teams.
Commercial and contractual awareness, with the ability to contribute to value-focused decision-making.
Self-motivated with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.On Offer:
