Our client, a well-established main contractor, is seeking an experienced Design Manager to support the delivery of a major fire safety remediation project, involving cladding replacement and fire door upgrades.
You will play a key role throughout both the pre-construction and delivery phases, ensuring all design solutions fully comply with Building Regulations, fire safety legislation, and client specifications.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded Design Manager with experience in building envelope or remediation works, looking to join a forward-thinking and reputable contractor on a high-profile project.
What You'll Do
Oversee and coordinate the design process for the project, focusing on cladding, facade, and fire door remediation works.
Ensure all designs meet current Building Regulations, Fire Safety Standards, and CDM requirements.
Work collaboratively with architects, engineers, consultants, and specialist subcontractors to develop compliant and cost-effective design solutions.
Manage the design programme, ensuring deliverables are achieved within the agreed budget and timescales.
Lead design coordination meetings and provide regular progress updates to the client and senior management.
Liaise with the client team and architects to ensure clear communication and smooth project delivery.
Implement and maintain quality control procedures throughout both the design and construction phases.
Support the project team with any design-related queries or issues that arise during delivery.
What We're Looking For
Skills & Experience:
Proven experience as a Design Manager within the construction sector.
Strong understanding of fire remediation, cladding systems and fire doors.
Excellent knowledge of current Building Regulations and CDM Regulations.
Ability to coordinate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
A proactive and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving and design coordination.
Personal Attributes
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence liaising with clients and consultants.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to make sound technical and commercial judgements.
