Purpose of Role
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our team managing design activities across the MOD Estate within Oxfordshire.
You'll oversee a portfolio of projects ranging from 1M to 15M, encompassing both refurbishment and new build schemes.
This is a key role within our construction and project delivery function, ensuring that design solutions are compliant, efficient, and delivered to the highest technical and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate all design activities from concept through to completion.
Manage the interface between design consultants, clients, and construction teams.
Ensure compliance with MOD and Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) design standards.
Oversee design risk management, buildability reviews, and technical submissions.
Support tendering processes, including developing design proposals and value engineering.
Monitor design programmes and ensure timely delivery of design information to meet project milestones.
Foster a collaborative, proactive design culture within project teams.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
Proven experience as a Design Manager or Senior Design Coordinator in a construction environment.
Background in managing design for refurbishment and new build projects (MOD or secure estates experience desirable).
Strong technical knowledge of construction methods and materials.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Proficient in design management software and BIM principles.
Relevant degree or professional qualification in Construction, Architecture, or Engineering
