Job Description

BakerHicks are growing its Power sector portfolio across Scotland, and we're looking for a Design Manager - Power to lead delivery on a major infrastructure project. This is a strategic leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives in complex environments, enjoys solving problems before they arise, and knows how to bring multidisciplinary teams together to deliver excellence.

Purpose of the Role:



As Design Manager, you'll be at the heart of the project team, working closely with the Project Manager, Commercial Manager, and Construction Manager. You'll spearhead the coordination of design delivery, ensuring technical accuracy, contractual compliance, and timely execution.

Key Accountabilities will include:


Coordinate and manage design output to ensure technical accuracy and contractual compliance. Lead design programme judgement and progress tracking. Manage communication flow between BakerHicks and the client. Oversee document control, design reviews, and change management. Support risk management, financial input, and project governance. Represent BakerHicks in client meetings and promote Perfect Delivery. Guide the team in delivering safe, efficient, and buildable solutions.
This role isn't just about delivery--it's about shaping how we deliver. You'll have the opportunity to influence innovation across sustainability, BIM, geospatial integration, and digital design workflows. We're looking for someone who can question the status quo and drive smarter solutions.

About You


Recognised engineering qualification. Experience in HV Power design and design management. Strong management and project management skills. Commercial and contractual awareness. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to manage teams and manage complex technical programmes.
