Role Overview



SubSea Craft is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Design Office Engineer to help shape and advance our Design Framework. This is a varied and dynamic role that sits at the heart of our engineering function, enabling the delivery of cutting-edge maritime technology. You'll work hand-in-hand with the Design and Development Director to lead the evolution of our design systems. Alongside framework development, you'll play an active role in the engineering efforts that drive our mission forward.







Responsibilities will include:



Collaborate closely with the Design and Development Director to evolve and implement the Design Framework across the organisation. Work in close partnership with discipline leads, and the Systems Engineering team in particular, to ensure alignment between design processes, system requirements, and engineering outputs. Document, refine, and standardise engineering and design processes, ensuring clarity, consistency, and traceability. Apply principles of information architecture to organise and structure design documentation for maximum usability and accessibility. Create and maintain high-quality diagrams, flowcharts, and visual aids that clearly communicate complex engineering concepts. Support the onboarding of new team members by maintaining clear, well-structured design guidance and reference materials. Actively read and synthesise relevant technical literature, standards, and best practices to inform and improve the Design Framework. Engage directly with engineering activities where appropriate, based on the candidate's skills and interests, offering a varied and dynamic role within the team.





Qualifications and Experience:



A degree in a relevant engineering discipline Strong understanding of product development and product lifecycle Exceptional written communication skills and a passion for precision and detail Confident IT user, ideally with experience using Atlassian tools (e.g., Confluence, Jira) and databases Proactive, organised, and able to work independently

Note

: Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum Existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with Security Check likely for specific projects.
