Key Responsibilities

Below is a list of Key responsibilities and coaching tasks the specialist is to support :

Technical support and Planning:

To maintain a Design technology strategy - and where capability was found lacking, to identify means to address the shortfall, and negotiate funding required Carry out detail design activities to meet the requirements of design for manufacture To provide technical leadership for Project,, or demonstrator programmes, ensuring best practice was followed consistently. To provide support for products in service, including briefing of Project and other seniors concerning exhaust technology issues, managing non-conformance and flight safety issues, interacting with partner companies, and executing the general Chief of Sub- System (COSS) responsibilities To perform the COSS role for New Project programmes as required, reporting to the Chief Engineer To ensure exhaust capability was efficiently captured, and made available to all stakeholders

Support Coaching Tasks:

Guidance / opinion on technical issues related to product designs Coaching / sharing relevant knowledge from historic product testing/design/technology Coaching on test strategy and instrumentation design/selection Coaching on manufacturability of product systems and designs Coaching on service experience

Project Leadership:

Leading and managing the technical aspects of projects from initiation to completion.

Integration Management:

Ensuring seamless integration of various technical components, systems, and platforms.

Risk Management:

Identifying and mitigating potential risks and issues related to technical integration.

Quality Assurance:

Ensuring the project meets quality standards and relevant industry regulations.

Continuous Improvement:

Evaluating project performance, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing changes to optimize future cycles.

Communication:

Effectively communicating technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Training and Mentoring:

Training and mentoring team members on technical aspects of the project.

Compliance:

Ensuring the technical solutions are secure and compliant with relevant regulations and standards.

Work Experience

Excellent understanding of the operation of a gas turbine in an aviation or marine application.


Appreciation of engine development and the certification process together and previous experience in the aerospace or engineering industry or previous experience of engine, unit or component testing or instrumentation would be beneficial.


Good understanding of technical databases and design documentation, including technical drawings. This includes data manipulation in complex databases, writing technical reports and creation of drawings.
