About the Role:

We're looking for a

Design Technician Placement Student

to join our team at

Millitec Food Systems

in Draycott, Derbyshire. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced Mechanical Design Engineers and contribute to real-world projects from day one.

You'll get hands-on experience in the full design-to-production process, supported by advanced in-house prototyping and manufacturing capabilities, including 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC machining.

Responsibilities:

Assist Mechanical Design Engineers on live design projects Design small parts and components for internal use and customer applications Create, organise, and improve technical documentation and manuals

What We're Looking For:

You should be:

Currently studying

Mechanical Engineering or a related subject

Looking for a

10 to 12-month industrial placement starting July 2025

Skilled in

3D CAD

(e.g. SolidWorks preferred) Interested in mechanical systems and design for manufacturing A team player with strong writing and communication skills

It would be great if you also have:

A hands-on approach and willingness to help out in the workshop Experience creating technical drawings and BOMs Interest in automation, robotics, or the food manufacturing industry
