We are looking to appoint a

Design & Technology Technician

to join our team soonest. This role will be based during term-time. The successful applicant will work closely with the D&T teachers to support the department via preparation of materials for teaching and learning, support lessons if required, maintain and replenish stock of materials and new equipment, and maintain existing machinery and equipment in the workshops to ensure the learners work safely.

Due to the remote location of the school, Candidates are required to have access to reliable transportation.



As Design & Technology Technician your responsibilities will include:



Preparation of equipment and materials in classrooms for practical exercises, running trials, demonstrations and helping students with learning activities as appropriate for teaching staff and student classes. Ensure the equipment is maintained and in good working order. In conjunction with the teacher, advise students on the safe and proper use of tools and equipment, and on the correct and safe way to carry out learning activities. Maintain adequate levels of stock/materials/equipment for the department. Be able to, and assist with the organisation of Design trips. Assist in D&T lessons when required.

What we are looking for:



Educated to A Level or equivalent. (Essential) Interest and experience in Design, Engineering, Construction and/or IT. (Essential) Experience working with a range of Design Technology equipment and resources. (Essential) Educated to degree level/equivalent in a Design related qualification (Desirable) Knowledge of using IT and have experience in used a laser and/or 3D printers. (Desirable) Design background or an Engineering background. (Desirable)
