Gillingham Football Club is hiring a Designated Safeguarding Officer/Human Resources Assistant to manage and report safeguarding concerns and to establish monitoring policies, procedures and daily practice to safeguard children and adults at risk in the organization, in particular the GFC Academy. Additionally, the role requires Human Resources support across the Club.
The role is part time and in-person, although there is flexibility establishing days/hours. The role reports to the Managing Director of the Club. : 35-40,000 per annum pro-rata.
Main Roles and Responsibilities
Work across the organisation to create a positive, child-centred, safe environment.
Develop, implement, monitor compliance with, and regularly review safeguarding policies and processes, including emergency response plans, to ensure they meet legislation, guidance and are relevant.
Work closely with the Academy staff to integrate safeguarding principles into coaching practices and ensure the well-being of young players and to support with player care and scholar accommodation.
Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and address potential safeguarding risks across all the Club's activities and facilities.
Co-ordinate the dissemination of policy, procedures and awareness throughout the organization and to support the delivery of the safeguarding strategy, safeguarding induction and training for staff.
Work in accordance with the English Football League (EFL) and/or The FA safeguarding standards and audited practices and to be the main point of contact for audit procedures (as required).
Maintain accurate, confidential and up-to-date documentation on all cases of safeguarding and child protection in a prompt and decisive manner, and report where required in line with GDPR regulations.
Manage the electronic case management system (My Concern) for recording and tracking concerns and allegations pertaining to the safety and welfare of children and adults at risk, ensuring accessibility and confidentiality.
Be the main point of contact and foster strong working relationships with external safeguarding agencies, participating in multi-agency collaborations and sharing relevant information, including reporting and referral to external agencies.
To provide various types of human resources support across the Club, including being the steward of safe recruitment procedures and practices across the Club.
Personal Specification
Experience as safeguarding professional required
Human resources experience, or willingness to train in the area
Respect for the confidential, sensitive nature of safeguarding and human resources work
Proficient in basic Microsoft packages
Team player who liaises easily with various GFC departments
Exceptional writing and communication skills
