Job Summary

We are seeking a talented and creative Designer to join our clients dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Detailing

Produce accurate roofing system designs, layout drawings, and technical details for flat, pitched, and industrial roofing projects. Develop bespoke design solutions that meet client and project-specific requirements. Ensure all designs comply with relevant British Standards, Building Regulations, and manufacturer guidelines. Provide technical support and advice to site teams during installation.

Technical Coordination

Liaise with architects, structural engineers, and consultants to ensure design integration with the wider building envelope. Work closely with manufacturers and suppliers to incorporate approved roofing systems and products. Review and interpret project specifications and translate them into workable design solutions.

Documentation & Compliance

Prepare detailed design drawings and specifications for approval and construction. Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings and O&M (Operation & Maintenance) manuals. Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure compliance with CDM regulations.

Support to Project Teams

Provide design input during the tendering and pre-construction phase, including value engineering options. Support Contracts Managers and Quantity Surveyors with design queries and clarifications. Attend design and progress meetings as required.

Key Skills & Experience

Experience as a designer/technician within roofing, cladding, or the wider building envelope sector. Strong technical knowledge of a wide range of roofing systems (flat, pitched, hard metal and bio-solar etc). Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential) and Revit/3D modelling software (desirable). Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings. Excellent problem-solving and detail-orientated mindset. Strong communication and coordination skills for working with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

HNC/HND or Degree in Architectural Technology, Construction, or related discipline (preferred). Relevant experience in roofing or building envelope design is essential. CSCS card (desirable). Knowledge of Building Regulations, NHBC standards, and relevant codes of practice.
