Working in the field of synthetic organic process chemistry, our Development Chemists are responsible for the development, optimisation and scale up of chemical projects in a professional and safe manner. The role requires strong technical expertise, practical problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across our PR&D and Quality functions, to support timely and in-budget project delivery and production.

Key Responsibilities
+ Carry out practical organic chemistry experiments as directed by Project Chemists and Departmental Managers, including the Kilo Lab Manager, to support projects and process development.
+ Generate high-quality experimental data to support process development, scale-up and transfer to manufacturing
+ Work closely with PRD Managers, Kilo Lab Manager and Project Chemists to provide progress reports, ensure that project targets are met and to resolve any problems or difficulties encountered during the course of the project.
+ Analyse and interpret results and suggest meaningful experiments to further the progress of the project.
+ Prepare technical reports, and present findings to internal teams, management, and external stakeholders as required.
+ Contribute to continuous improvement and implementation of best practices within the laboratory
+ Ensure compliance with company health, safety and environmental standards
Person Specification
Qualifications:
+ BSc, MSc or PhD in Chemistry or a related discipline
Experience & Skills:
+ Practical experience with synthetic chemistry, process development, project-based work, or scale-up.
+ Good working knowledge of laboratory safety practices and chemical handling.
+ Familiarity with techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, or thermal analysis is desirable.
+ Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
+ Strong attention to detail, accuracy and documentation

Working Pattern
This is a full-time (40 hours weekly, including a daily 30-minute paid break) role. The jobholder should be willing to be flexible to occasionally work outside normal office hours, or additional hours at busy times of the year and/or for cover, as may be required from time-to-time. This role is predominantly site-based, with some flexibility for WFH depending on project requirements.
