In this role you will develop key technologies that will complement and enhance our existing product lines. The range of relevant domains include ultrasonic transduction, electromagnetism, materials and mechanical engineering (particularly selection and use of materials at high temperatures) and design for manufacture.


Initially, a strong background in mechanical engineering and design is required. It is expected that, over time you will build your knowledge and expertise to become proficient in and increasing number of domains.


In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:



Drive the development of parts of our sensor systems, working to a high level of technical competence and applying an appropriate level of design rigour to make justified engineering decisions. This will require a strong understanding of fundamental principles, simulation and experimentation. Communicate the justification for design decisions clearly in writing and verbally. Specify critical requirements and acceptance criteria for design subcontractors, handle the relationship, on time delivery and knowledge transfer so that we can understand the design and can fault-find. Specify and handle the manufacture of components for verification testing and review appropriate verification tests and results. Deliver your tracks in the project on time following our new product development processes to ensure the right things are done at the right time. Develop your areas of domain expertise in others in the team. The technologies we use in our system typically have a strong interdependence. Having a broad understanding of the science driving these interdependencies is important. Transfer knowledge through written and verbal communication to embed key knowledge. Understand and apply relevant design standards, particularly design for equipment in hazardous areas.

For This Role, You Will Need:

BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering or similar. Knowledge of SolidWorks or similar CAD package to produce 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings and photorealistic renders. Able to perform FEA (stress and thermal modelling) Familiar with wide range of manufacturing process including die-casting, injection moulding and sheet metal fabrication. Experience of product development lifecycle in and industrial environment.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:



Familiar with PLM tools (Enovia or similar) Familiar with the use of FMWE, DFM and DFA
