The team...





The Development Team supports key business applications across the Customer Experience and Digital Service including Council Tax, Business Rates and Social Care Finance including Benefits. The team is responsible for managing, co-ordinating and developing key IT systems across the service including procurement and training and facilitating the implementation, development and support, of these systems to help improve service delivery.


About the role....



This is an exciting opportunity to join our team. We are looking for a Development Officer to assist in the management and development of systems and processes to deliver front line activities.



Reporting to the Development Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in the Development Team and across the Council. The goal of the team is to ensure the successful development and maintenance of relevant systems to meet current and future service needs and provide the best support for system users and customers. The systems will be particularly in support of, but not limited to, Council Tax, Business Rates, Financial Assessment, Financial Protection, Direct Payments and Benefits activities.



The successful candidate will have knowledge of legislation in at least one of the following areas of legislation: local government, local government finance, social care, benefits and revenues. Developing systems and then training others on those systems is a core part of this role so demonstrable experience in training others is essential. You will have experience in the use of computerised systems that support revenues collection, benefits administration or social care financing.



You will have worked on projects on the past and be comfortable with independently handling conflicting priorities and delivering work to deadlines. You will be a competent user of Microsoft Office applications and be comfortable with specialist computer system interrogation and data extraction.

The position is fixed term, until 28th February 2027.
