LOCATION: MediaCityUK, Salford
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Dependant on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
For this role the duties and experience needed will involve leading story development for VTs and strands within the series, working to dedicated editorial targets, identifying and leading both short- and long-term journalistic investigations. Your role will include leading a small development team and works closely with other producers and their teams as well as pitching to the Series Editor and SP. You will Work closely with Editorial Policy & Programme Legal Advice and be across haring responsibility for Rights of Reply.

2026 ushers in the show's 18th series and introduces some exciting new elements alongside its usual incisive investigations and explosive scams and compelling character-led stories.
BBC Studios is looking for a range of people to join our Salford-based team.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • To develop and pitch ideas for multi-platform content.
  • To produce distinctive content using a range of specialist production skills.
  • To work within BBC compliance policies, including Editorial guidelines, referring on matters of potential controversy.
  • Develop and manage positive working relationships with staff, contributors and talent.
  • Lead, motivate and support a team, ensuring that the editorial vision is communicated and understood from planning through to delivery.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
  • A thorough knowledge of BBC editorial guidelines and other compliance policies, or has the desire to glean this knowledge quickly.
  • Excellent editorial judgement and knowledge of the target audience, their needs and expectations
  • Able to lead the team to develop creative ideas which engage diverse audiences in a demanding creative environment
  • Highly developed planning and organising skills.
  • Ability to manage several areas of work at one time, prioritising, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities.
