The Service & Team:



The Technical Team delivers high quality technical services and case management across a number of functions and services to achieve customer experience resilient services across the whole of Planning and Housing Services. The Role:



This role will predominantly be validating planning applications in accordance with local and national validation requirements. We are looking for a motivated and driven person who can work both collaboratively and using their own initiative to support the development management process. Excellent customer care, communication and organisational skills will be essential and experience of working in an office environment will be required. Training and support will be provided on validating planning applications in line with the validation guide and Planning legislation. The ability to work with accuracy and pay attention to detail together with being able to deal with a high volume of work is essential.


Should you be successfully appointed to this role some of the key responsibilities will include:


Providing technical and administrative support across the Planning and Housing service Validating a variety of planning applications in accordance with the validation guide and in line with planning legislation Dealing with customer inquiries in relation to the validation process Using GIS tools to draw polygons and produce maps Good understanding of systems and using them in line with council procedures Delivering Technical Support eg scanning, indexing, validation, GIS, measuring/reading plans Be responsible for own self development to ensure role requirements are met Actively support colleagues Fostering a collaborative environment, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement with colleagues inside and outside of the team Ensuring accuracy and efficiency in data handling and reporting new line

Working Pattern:



Whilst the location/work base for this role has been specified our evolving ways of working means that the role will require you to work in a hybrid way eg working from home and working from our nearest office location (eg Pool, Truro or Bodmin). More details will be provided at the interview. Jobshare/Part time hours may be available and can be discussed at the interview.


Whilst flexible working is possible and there is a flexi system in place there will be a requirement to work within the core business hours of Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm the majority of the time.


What you'll need to succeed:



Applicants should have 5 x GCSEs at grade 5 or above (or equivalent) including English and maths and have experience of using Microsoft Office applications and any other reasonable use of IT, You will have good interpersonal and communication skills and enjoy the challenge of working within a busy team and previous experience of working in an office environment is required. A NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration (or equivalent) and experience of working in a public sector environment would be desirable.
