We are looking for an experience Development Underwriter to join our team.

What does a Development Underwriter do?

As a Development Underwriter, you will report to the Head of Underwriting Strategy & Development, providing essential services to support Guardian's proposition to achieve target business outcomes by working with the Development Underwriting team to review and propose changes to URE rules, presenting these for reinsurance review. You'll assist with testing rule changes to ensure accuracy, analyse data, and report outcomes within the business. Additionally, you will manage your time and workloads to meet internal quality standards, develop and maintain relationships across departments, drive efficiency improvements, and ensure adherence to the FCA's "Treating Customers Fairly" requirements. Identifying and reporting areas of risk and adapting behaviours for vulnerable customers will also be key responsibilities.

Who are we looking for?

Candidates with recent experience of rules development and testing for Life, CI and IP underwriting, using UnderwriteMe or similar URE. Ability to contribute immediately and learn quickly to cover knowledge gaps. Technically proficient with experience of Life, CI and IP underwriting. Experience of MI analysis and reporting, previous use of Yellowfin and/or PowerBI preferred. Ability to work with colleagues at all levels and with external parties. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external partners (e.g. reinsurers) is crucial. Ability to manage own time and work priorities.
