About this role:

As a DevOps Engineer you will be accountable for the maintenance of our robust and secure cloud infrastructure where we leverage core AWS services and champion Infrastructure to ensure automated and consistent systems.


A commitment to system reliability will be paramount, involving participation in on-call rotations and establishing comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting protocols. Furthermore, you will utilise Ansible for configuration management, actively promoting DevOps best practices and collaborating closely with development and security teams to foster continuous improvement.

These are some of the key ingredients to the role:

Design & Maintain AWS Infrastructure:

Design, implement, and maintain robust AWS infrastructure (EKS, EC2, ECS, Aurora, Route 53, ACM), focusing on Infrastructure as Code with Terraform or Pulumi for automation.

Champion Containerisation & Orchestration:

Lead the seamless deployment and management of Docker containers within our Kubernetes environment.

Automate CI/CD Pipelines:

Own and enhance CI/CD pipelines, primarily using GitHub Actions, for fast, reliable application delivery.

Participate in On-Call Rotations:

Be an essential part of our on-call rotation, ensuring system stability, quick issue resolution, and consistent service availability.

Ensure System Observability:

Play a vital part in monitoring, logging, and alerting to maintain full system visibility and proactively resolve issues.

Configuration Management

: Utilise Ansible to manage and automate infrastructure and application configuration for consistency and efficiency.

Drive Innovation:

Promote

DevOps best practices

, exploring new technologies, and collaborating with development and security teams for continuous process refinement.

What will you bring to the table?

Extensive experience operating and optimising AWS environments, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of its services and capabilities. Proven proficiency with Terraform or Pulumi, alongside a deep practical knowledge of how to build, maintain, and scale production-grade infrastructure using IaC principles. Well-versed in Docker and Kubernetes (especially AWS EKS), complemented by hands-on experience with Helm for effective application packaging and deployment. Strong Linux system administration skills, coupled with powerful scripting abilities, particularly in Bash. Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD tooling, with proficiency in GitHub Actions. A clear understanding of the critical importance of comprehensive logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions ( Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, etc.) to ensure optimal system health, performance, and proactive issue identification. A solid grasp of event-driven architectures and practical experience in building and operating systems that utilise them, including familiarity with technologies like Kafka and AWS SQS.
